Vida Natural Project: Mechanism for the Carbon Neutral Declaration of the Huetar Caribe Regional Unit, National Institute of Learning of Costa Rica, period 2016-2020

Based on the Country Program for Carbon Neutrality 2.0 (PPCN 2.0) and executive decree No. 36499-S-MINAET, the Huetar Caribe Regional Unit (URHC) of the “Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje” (INA) has developed the institutional project called: VIDA NATURAL, as part of the Institutional Environmental Management Program (PGAI). Among the most outstanding results of the project is the attainment of the URHC Carbon Neutral Plus Declaration. Such achievement was attained by determining a Carbon footprint of 188 ton CO2e/year in 2016, 150 ton CO2e/year in 2017 and 155 ton CO2e/year in 2018, and finally the removal of 190 ton CO2e/year in a forest area of 14 hectares, applying INTE B5:2016 standard.
